Hey there! I’m Martha
When I was a new educator, my first theory course was PowerPoint-heavy with a scripted lecture. Over time, I successfully transitioned to a learner-centered model and saw firsthand the improvements in student engagement and their ability to apply what they were learning to a clinical scenario.
I started BreakoutRN because I want to encourage all nurse educators to embrace active learning while emphasizing that you don’t have to do it all at once, just take it one activity at a time.
My goal in hosting this summit is to give you practical tools, ideas, and products centered around active learning and student engagement so you can confidently lead your classroom.
What to expect with your event ticket
Flipped classroom format
The Innovative Nurse Educator Summit will offer educators a continuing education experience with active learning principles. Starting October 12th, you will have access to the speaker presentations. Then, from October 23-25, we will come together for live sessions with each speaker and time for implementation.
PRESENTATIONS
Pre-work sessions will be 20-30 minutes in length. Nice and short so that you can get practical information and immediately put it into motion! The presentations will slowly released starting October 12th and be available through October 25th.
Live Sessions
We will come together from October 23-25 to apply what we have learned. Guided by each expert speaker, you will spend 30 minutes taking action and implementing the educational best practice you learned previously. You will walk away from the session having taken the first steps in implementing a new teaching technique.
Where
You can access the summit content from anywhere with internet access.
Everything will wrap up by October 25th.
Continuing Education Credits
After signing up, you will have the option if you would like to earn continuing education credits. There are a total of 9 credits available.
NETWORK WHILE LEARNING
You’ll also have access to a private Slack community during the summit. Here we’ll be connecting before the event, sharing additional ideas during the event, and continuing to offer support to help you implement these ideas once the event concludes.

Why the Innovative Nurse Educator Summit?

Starting Friday, October 12th, you will have access to nine expert presentations to teach you strategies to quickly get started with practical, easy-to-implement activities that engage students and promote clinical judgment.
Then, October 23-25, join in the live sessions with each presenter, where you will take the first steps in building these classroom or clinical activities.
This is similar to a flipped classroom model. You will first have time to learn the foundational content at your own pace. Then, through the live session, you will have the opportunity to implement, take action and start building the active learning lesson.

We are excited to welcome our partners in nursing practice as well. Any nurse educator, regardless of where you practice, is welcome to attend. The focus will be on educational best practices that can be applied to a variety of settings.

Once you sign up, you will have the option to pay a small fee to earn CE credits. The live sessions will be recorded and you will have six months to access them, complete the evaluation, and earn the credits.
CE credits are also available as part of the Nurse Educator Toolkit, a collection of amazing resources from the speakers.

Each speaker presentation will be available from October 12-25th. However, you can purchase the Nurse Educator Toolkit to get ongoing access to all of the videos and workbooks, information on earning CE credits, along with other amazing bonuses from the speakers!

No. When you register, you will be added to the summit email list so we can send you updates for the event and the links to speaker presentations. After the summit, you'll continue to hear from us, but you can unsubscribe anytime.
Speakers may have a free resource available that you can access by providing an email address, but the speaker will not get your email unless you choose to give it to them specifically. This way, you will only hear from the people you are truly interested in connecting with online.

The presentations for the summit are pre-recorded. These will be available for about 10 days with your free ticket.
If you cannot attend the live sessions, go ahead and grab your free ticket, and you will have the opportunity to upgrade to the Nurse Educator Toolkit to gain access to recordings of the live sessions.
